Since its formation in New York City in 2007, Writopia Lab has grown into a nationwide community of young writers. Our mission is to foster joy, literacy, and critical thinking in children and teens from all backgrounds through creative writing. We create a safe and engaging space for writers at all stages of the writing process, and we aim to provide the creative inspiration, individual attention, and intellectual environment that may not be available to them at school. We also help them revise and publish their pieces in Writopia Lab’s online literary magazines.

What Our Senior Editorial Intern Does:
Our Senior Editorial Intern will have a leadership role in the publishing of our literary journals, The (Parenthetical) and The Ellipsis.... They will help manage, edit, and publish pieces written and submitted by our talented young writers, ages 6-18. They will report directly to our Editor-In-Chief and oversee the work of our editorial interns.

We are in need of an Editorial Intern who is a natural leader and finds it easy to be supportive and enthusiastic about young writers' work and who can learn to be a thoughtful editor. Basic copyediting skills are required.  You must be a Junior or Senior in college to apply, with copy-editing experience for a literary journal. A background in English, Literature, Creative Writing, or Education is preferred. Editorial work is mostly done at our Upper West Side office. There is an opportunity to work remotely part-time after training is complete.
Our Editorial Intern commits for a full school year from September to June.
