Overview

Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(C)(3) nonprofit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids and teens, is looking for two great nurses for our two-week sleepaway camp at Camp Danbee in the Berkshire Mountains. Camp runs from Sunday, August 11th through Friday, August 23rd. Applicants must be available for this entire period.

WriCampia is a creative writing-oriented sleepaway camp designed for kids ages 10 to 18. Our young writers spend the day participating in creative writing workshops, literary electives, and typical camp activities, such as boating and swimming.

Location

WriCampia 2024 will be held at Camp Danbee in the Berkshire Mountains. Transportation between New York City or Washington, DC and camp will be provided by Writopia Lab.

Dates

• 12 to 15 training hours via Zoom from mid-July through early August
• Camp runs Sunday, August 11th through Friday, August 23rd.

Pay

• Compensation is $2,400 plus room and board for the duration of camp plus $17 per hour for pre-camp training.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing medicine to campers
• Caring for injured or sick campers (ages 10 to 18) and staffers
• Communicating with parents and guardians of sick and injured campers
• Handling medical emergencies
• Administering COVID-19 rapid antigen tests as needed

Requirements

• Valid RN or LPN certification that is honored by MA’s reciprocal licensing policy (Writopia Lab will pay the application fee should a reciprocal license be needed)
• A valid driver’s license
• A passion for working with kids and teens
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 including having one of the new 2023 - 2024 updated COVID-19 vaccines: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Novavax.
