Description

Attention novelists, poets, essayists, graphic novelists, and screenwriters: Do you love kids? Are you excited by the idea of teaching children how to write stories with beginnings, middles, and (drum roll) endings? Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 6-18, is looking instructors to teach this summer in our Los Angeles sites in West LA, Silver Lake, El Segundo, and the Valley.

During the summer, workshops meet Monday through Friday for three hours either in the morning or afternoon. Instructors work part-time and can expect to work most but not every week (depending on availability and flexibility).

Our instructors are role models. A Writopia instructor is half camp counselor (fun and funny, warm and engaging) and half savvy editor/teacher (astute, insightful, serious, open, sensitive). We train instructors extensively in our method and are looking for published writers and instructors who've worked with children. A master's degree is not required but preferred. We are seeking instructors with availability in El Segundo and Spanish fluency. To find out more information regarding who we are and what we do here at Writopia, please visit our website at www.writopialab.org.

If you are excited by the idea of joining a community of writers and helping children and teens learn to write, please fill out this short form. (Don’t forget to attach your resume, cover letter, and publication history!)

No phone calls or drop ins, please. Email lyndsay@writopialab.org with questions. Emailed applications will be promptly disregarded.
