Do you love kids? Are you excited by the idea of helping edit and publish short stories and plays by kids? Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 6 to 18, is looking for interns for our Upper West Side Location.

Since its formation in New York City in 2007, Writopia Lab has grown into a nationwide community of young writers. Our mission is to foster joy, literacy, and critical thinking in children and teens from all backgrounds through creative writing. We create a safe and engaging space for writers at all stages of the writing process, and we aim to provide the creative inspiration, individual attention, and intellectual environment that may not be available to them at school. We also help them revise and publish their pieces in Writopia Lab’s online literary magazines.

What Our Editorial Interns Do:
Editorial interns will be trained to work on our online literary journals, The (Parenthetical) and The Ellipsis....  Editorial interns help manage, edit, and publish pieces written and submitted by our talented young writers, ages 6-18.

Requirements:
We are in need of interns who find it easy to be supportive and enthusiastic about young writers' work and who can learn to be thoughtful editors and guides.  Basic copyediting skills are required. Completed degrees are NOT required to apply for these internships, and we will accept applicants with majors or minors--or a strong background in--English, Literature, Creative Writing, or Education. Editorial work is mostly done at our Upper West Side office.
School year interns commit for one semester and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Applicants with September - June availability preferred.

How to Apply:
If you are excited by the idea of joining a community of writers and helping children and teens learn to write, please fill out this short form. (Don’t forget to attach your resume, cover letter, and answer the question “Why do you want to work at Writopia?”)
