Title:Creative Writing Teaching Intern (LA)
ID:1028
Job Type:Internship
Job Classification:N/A
Description

Do you love kids? Are you excited by the idea of helping children learn to write short stories, scripts, and plays with beginnings, middles, and (drum roll) endings? Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(c)3 nonprofit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 7 to 18, is looking for interns for our Los Angeles location.

What Interns Do:
Our interns are half teaching assistants, half camp counselors, who are able to serve as role models to our young writers while cultivating their love for writing and confidence. While in workshop, interns will provide typing, editorial, and moral support to our writers, take photographs of the classes, and help kids submit their work to our online journal, The Parenthetical.

In addition to interning with Writopia Lab, interns are offered the opportunity to request feedback on their own work from one of our trained and published instructors, so that interns can work on their own writing in a supportive and creative community.

Qualifications:
We are in need of interns who find it easy to be supportive and enthusiastic about young writers' work and who can learn to be thoughtful editors and guides. Completed degrees are NOT required to apply for these internships, and we will accept applicants with majors or minors--or a strong background in--English, Literature, Creative Writing, or Education. We will hold workshops at Writopia Westside and in Silver Lake, El Segundo, and Tarzana. The internship takes place in Los Angeles and begins mid-June, with training starting in early June.

Applicants must be committed to the agreed upon schedule. (NOTE: If you have a prior obligation, such as a family vacation or wedding to attend, or if your school's schedule differs from ours, please let me know; we can work with conflicts like these on a case-by-case basis!)

How to Apply:
If you are excited by the idea of joining a community of writers and helping children learn to write, please apply here: http://WritopiaLab.applicantstack.com/x/detail/a2wg4kz3pob7.
