Description

Writopia Lab, a creative writing non-profit, is looking for two talented, smart, and dedicated counselors from the New York City or DC Metro areas to assist during our summer sleepaway camp (WriCampia) during the month of August 2017.

Our camps are designed for kids ages 9 to 18. Our young writers produce all range of works including stories, poems, plays, graphic novels, songs, and more. Our instructors are all published, experienced writers. To find out more about who we are and what we do here at Writopia, please visit our website.

We are looking for two aids to work with one of our male campers with physical disabilities. We need someone who is comfortable helping this camper in the shower and the bathroom, and someone to shadow him while he attends morning writing workshops. You will share duties of attending to the camper throughout the day, and sleep in the cabin with the camper.

You will be working in a hands-on, collaborative, and fun environment. Ideally, you are passionate about the art of the word and love working with young writers. The camp is held at IHC in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, a gorgeous 300-acre property with a lake, a pool, a woodshop, a ceramics studio, and much more.

This is a paid position: $200 per day plus room and board for 12 nights and 13 days. We are also happy to sign off on programs that offer academic credit.

Your time at WriCampia will run from August 13th to August 25th.

If you are excited by the idea of joining a community of writers and helping one young writer be comfortable and safe in a camp environment, please fill out this short form and attach your resume and a cover letter. No phone calls, emails, or drop ins, please.
