Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(C)(3) nonprofit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 6 to 18, is looking for an Operations Assistant for our Upper West Side Location.

Since its formation in New York City in 2007, Writopia Lab has grown into a nationwide community of young writers. Our mission is to foster joy, literacy, and critical thinking in children and teens from all backgrounds through creative writing. We create a safe and engaging space for writers at all stages of the writing process, and we aim to provide the creative inspiration, individual attention, and intellectual environment that may not be available to them at school.

Job Description:

• Assist the Operations team and Office Manager with running errands, setting up workshops and replenishing supplies.

• Provide administrative support along with clerical tasks that aid the daily business operations of the organization.

• Order supplies and manage inventory.

• Ensure that the office common areas are tidy and presentable.

• Other projects as assigned.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, can catch on quickly, and is very flexible. Proven track record of effective organizational skills and ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently. Familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing systems. Ability to physically move equipment, furniture and boxes of materials.  Please be able to lift at least 50 lbs. This position runs through September 5th. We are willing to hire someone full-time in the event that that space opens up and work ethic is exceptional.

Position Start: Immediately - 1st week of September

Commitment: 30 hours per week

Hours: 11 am - 4:30 pm with 30 minute unpaid lunch 

Salary: $15/hr
