WriCampia Male Head Counselor Ad 2018

Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(C)(3) nonprofit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 2 to 18, is looking for a creative, energetic, experienced head counselor for our summer sleepaway camp (WriCampia) during the month of August 2018.

WriCampia is a creative writing-oriented sleepaway camp designed for kids ages 9 to 18. Our young writers spend the day participating in creative writing workshops, literary electives, and typical camp activities, such as boating and swimming.  

We are hiring a male counselor to lead the boy’s division. Though the head counselor won’t sleep in a camper bunk, this person will be in charge of overseeing staff and campers in all male bunks. This includes working closely with the WriCampia leadership team on every aspect of camp. We are looking for someone with significant sleepaway camp experience who has a passion for the art of the word and a love of working with young writers. You will be working in a hands-on, collaborative, and fun environment.

Sleepaway camp runs from August 12th through August 24th at IHC in Honesdale, PA. Training, which will happen at our New York City location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, includes one week in June and part-time work for the two weeks leading up to camp. Compensation will be $1,100 (plus room and board) for time at camp and $13/hour for training time in Manhattan.
