Description

Published fiction writers and produced playwrights: do you love children? Are you excited by the idea of helping kids and teens learn to write short stories with beginnings, middles, and (drum roll) endings? Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(C)(3) nonprofit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids ages 7 to 18, is hiring instructors able to work in either our Westchester County, NY location or our Fairfield County, CT location.

During the school year, workshops meet after school or on weekends, once a week for ten weeks. During the summer and all school breaks, we run week-long intensives. All young writers finish at least one story by the end of their workshop. We are currently only hiring instructors who are available for at least 9 weeks this summer.  We train instructors extensively in our method.

Our instructors are half camp counselor (fun and funny, warm and engaging) and half savvy editor/teacher (astute, insightful, serious, open, sensitive). We train instructors extensively in our method and are looking for writers, including those published in literary journals or currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an MFA program, to teach under this method. You can learn more about us, please visit www.writopialab.org.

If you are excited by the idea of joining a community of writers and helping children and teens learn to write, please fill out this short form, including your cover letter and resume.

Because of the volume of applicants, we do not take phone calls or drop ins regarding open positions.
